 ONE YEAR CONTRACT MATERNITY COVER FROM JULY 2012

From July 2012 the shop needs a skilled dressmaker to manage the shop activities for one year.

Maria she will be away on maternity in Italy and all the customers that have so long supported the shop business are willing to get a person to take care of the many everyday alterations and bridalware needs. The shop is normally very busy and the person has to be prepared for hard work and will have to manage the many appointments with responsibility and tight time constraints.

The work is quite pleasant and various for any person loving sewing activities, it includes mainly alterations jobs, supervision and management of work delivered by other workers, and possibly the delivery of sewing classes and training. Some instructions will be provided, however due to time constraints the person has to be quite quick to adapt and adventurous and strong willed to get on on her own, and able to carry on the sewing job without any supervision.

Therefore any person with some fashion qualifications and one- two year experience on alteration and dressmaking for customers as self employed will be considered.

The salary will be £ 250 per week, 35 hours work and can be further discussed.

People with age from  24 to 35 will be preferably considered, the shop activities will be for a year a very good work experience for any career in fashion or dressmaking.

Coconuts and bubbles wants to expand into a franchise business, and is looking for enthusiast people to rely on, producing in the future garments for sale, on line sale, and fashion shows.

Motivation, personality strenght, commercial understanding of the fashion business and current markets, personal enthusiasm and creativity are essential qualities to fit into the “true spirit” of the business.

AGE 20 to 25: WORKING AS A QUALIFIED DRESSMAKER

Young dressmaker is required to assist this busy dressmaking shop in Bedford. Fashion enthusiast, creative and commercially astute, the person has to be over 20 years old and with at least 2 years studies into fashion, some  professional working experience, and willing to improve in customized dressmaking.

If CV doesn't include pattern drafting she/ he has to be trained at the shop paying for the pattern making course and then passing a proper test on drafting and producing a simple garment in a certain time.

Passing the text is essential to verify the commercial attitude of the person, able to produce accurate and graceful sewing within time constraints.

Dressmaker test: Draft a pencil skirt of given measure, cut and sew the skirt all in 3.5 hours.

SALARY:

£6 to £9/ h at the beginning, depending on experience, first three months will be paid based on the amount of work completed, possible part time or full time regular employment afterwards.

AGE 15 to 20: WORKING AS APPRENTICE IN SEWING 

Also any apprentice with age below 20 is welcome, has to be really wishing to stay and progress in the fashion sector, she will have to pay to be trained with the basic sewing course and pass a sewing test before being admitted to work at the shop.

Apprentice test: Hem jeans in ½ an hour, formal trousers in 45 minutes.
